Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It became the number streamed song at the period within the space of six months. It was a blend of pop and reggaeton that attracted attention to Latin music but as well reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 and two songs in 2015. At the peak of Despacito's popularity, however 19 predominantly Spanish tracks made the top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 of them. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito was released in 2017. Then, numerous popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018), and Madonna collaborated with Maluma to create Medellin. In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton performers were lamenting its inclination towards mainstream, but a new generation of performers, including Rauw Alejandro, aimed to continue the evolution of reggaeton. The musician incorporated electronic dance music and other genres into his songs.
